This program was designed for Grades 5-8 but depending on the environment, could be used for older or younger student groups.
Participating students receive a STEM education while simultaneously learning the science behind the sport of volleyball. Frequently Asked Questions:
- How many students does each Kit serve?
A single Volleyball Kit can serve up to 12 students, or six pairs of students.
- How long does each Kit last?
None of the items in our STEM Sports Kits are perishable, so they can be used multiple times with normal wear and tear. Most of the schools implementing our STEM Sports programs use their Kits four (4) times per year. Many of our participating schools have used their sport Kits 10 or more times over the past three years.
- How many total students can a single Kit serve over time?
Literally hundreds. Each of the eight lessons/modules is designed for groups of 12 students. If a classroom has 24 students, they would break up into two groups and the same lesson would be administered to all 24 students, simultaneously. If the entire kit was used in four different classrooms over the course of one-half of a school year, 96 students would be served or as many as 192 over the course of one year.
- What program format are Kits most effective in?
All STEM Sports programs are designed to be flexible in order to be implemented in any time frames or learning setting. Our programs are equally effective in-school, after-school, or in a summer camp setting. The eight (8) modules can be taught in any sequence depending on the needs and preference of the instructor.
- Who can teach the STEM Sports program?
Our STEM Sports programs are designed so that anyone with a basic understanding of STEM principals can lead the programs. The modules and teacher manuals are designed in a way that provides the instructor the framework and tools to implement each lesson plan in virtually any order. Currently, there are instructors from a variety of backgrounds teaching our programs across the country. Some are certified teachers in STEM areas, some are physical education professionals, some are summer camp directors, and many are from disciplines outside of STEM.
- What is the Kit(s) shipping/delivery time upon placing an order?
Depending on the final delivery destination, Kits are normally delivered within two (2) weeks of order placement. Please note that delivery time is subjected to respective location, and therefore may arrive shortly before or after the two-week period.
