Get sporty! Flying discs have been around since 700 B.C. and the discus throw sporting event dates back to ancient times. In present day, frisbees and discs of all shapes, materials, and sizes have become a popular past time. In this camp, students gain valuable understanding of physics concepts while enjoying some fresh air!
Discs are able to fly because of spin (lift), angular momentum (thrust), shape (drag), and weight (gravity). All objects in flight are also affected by these four forces, which is why students test different shapes and sizes to learn effective throwing and catching techniques. During this 12-lesson camp students will gain a thorough knowledge of physics concepts and end with a fun game of disc golf to test their newly acquired skills!
